Favs and Not so Much

My favorite unit was Unit 1 because I was able to learn about the history of journalism. My least favorite unit was Unit 11 feature stories are not my favorite so I guess that's why I didn't enjoy the unit that much.
My favorite project was the news letter one because I enjoy making stuff my own. My least favorite was writing a feature story because I don't enjoy them I'm more into editorials.
The thing I would keep about the class is the fun bloggers and Mrs. Brown of course. I would change the guidelines of certain projects and bloggers.

Positive and Negative Review

1. http://www.teenink.com/reviews/tv_show_reviews/article/317260/Teen-Mom-A-Positive-Influence/
http://www.nationalreview.com/article/368371/mtv-and-teen-pregnancy-rich-lowry

2. The topic of the positive review of Teen Mom is that it actually helps girls see that being a teen parent isn't easy and the show keeps girls from making the decision to become a teen mom. The topic of the negative review was that the show was not the reality of a teen parent that the show was too glamorous.

3. The attitude of the negative reviewer was negative they felt the show was too glamorous and was not reality. The attitude of the positive reviewer was positive they felt the show did a good job making kids remember to use protection and not become teen parents.

4. (A.) A fact about the negative review is that one of the teen moms walked down the red carpet in a 6,000 dollar dress. A fact about the positive review is that the show actually did help keep some girls from getting pregnant.

(B.) an opinion from the negative review is the show is not something teen girls need to be watching. An opinion from the positive is this show is a good show to keep teens from getting pregnant at a young age.

5. I agree with both the negative and positive review I think that the show is both good and bad because I don't think it's reality but at the same time seeing all the things that a teen mom goes through keeps girls from wanting to become a teen parent.

"...With Liberty and Justice for All."

The written editorial:
www.cnn.com/2014/09/12/justice/ferguson-michael-brown-newspaper/index.html

The Cartoon is a little boy holding a newspaper with the names Trayvon, Eric Garner, Jordan Davis, and Michael Brown printed on the top. The article is on the timeline of Michael Brown's death and the things that happened after.

1.) "...With Liberty and Justice for All."
The pledge of allegiance is said everyday in schools but the question is, is there honestly justice for all?
Was there justice for Trayvon Martin?
Was there justice for Eric Garner? Jordan Davis? Michael Brown? This cartoon was about a father getting tired of making excuses for America today and the deaths of these young black boys. The editorial went into detail about Michael Brown and his family reacting to the press.
2.) The view on the topic is if there was honestly justice for the deaths of Michael Brown and how his parents are speaking out about what happened to their son and other boys. The writer's view is what's being done after the death of Michael Brown and the other boys and how the community and families are reacting.
3.) The cartoon and editorial are both alike because they're talking about the death of Michael Brown and how people are tired of making excuses for the deaths of these teenage black boys. They're different because the cartoon goes into detail about who are the other black boys that have also died from police brutality.
4.) I believe that the cartoon is more effective on proving it's point because it shows the father is really getting tired of making excuses for America today and how little kids don't understand why young black boys are dying.
5.) Drawing a cartoon you can create more of a picture for the readers. Writing an editorial can give people more information on what actually happened opinions and facts. The drawbacks of a written editorial you have to describe things in more detail to create a picture by using imagery. The drawbacks of a cartoon you have to go dig deep with the pictures created to create a story.

Northwestern Athletes and Coaches Open Up About the Difficulties of Being an Athlete Because of Expectations and Their Busy Schedules.

Being an athlete in high school is not easy. "It takes a lot to be an athlete in high school you have to really know how to use your time. We (football team) practice from 3:30 to 7 an hour for film and two hours homework." Practice schedules vary for every sport. Basketball players practice is Monday-Friday 4 to 5:30 and sometimes 5:30 to 7, soccer practice is 4-7.

"Northwestern athletes are looked at as ambassadors for our school and are held to a higher standard," stated girls soccer Coach Mouzon, when asked his expectations on his athletes. Coach Jordan Kyles, 9th grade girls basketball coach stated, "I expect ultimate improvement from my players so they can further help the program later." When speaking with football Coach Pierce he stated, "I want my players to give their best efforts, focus and become better people."

Cross country runner, Amber Johnson stated, "My Dad is my coach and he runs and is a good runner and so I'm supposed to be," when asked the type of expectations on her. Alex Anderson stated, "I'm expected to win and be disciplined." "I can't act a fool, I can't post just anything on Instagram, I'm expected to be a role model," stated Julian Shockley.

Being a true athlete you practice on and off the track or field. Northwestern athletes admit to weight lifting, watching their diet, running around neighborhood and much more training in and out of season. You think you have what it takes to be a Northwestern athlete?

'Flawless' Remix or Insight on the Showdown?

Yeah it's great that Beyonce put out a remix of her hit song Flawless but if you listen closely she mentions about the elevator showdown between her sister, Solange and husband, Jay Z.
We escalate, up in this b**** like elevators
Of course sometimes s*** go down
When it's a billion dollars on an elevator
Of course sometimes s*** go down
When it's a billion dollars on an elevator
Many want to know what actually happened on the elevator that caused Solange to attack Jay Z on May 12. Beyonce never once got involved in the showdown so it's surprising to see she mentioned it in her Flawless remix. In my opinion, maybe things aren't all a fairytale in the Carter household seeing how easily Beyonce stepped out the elevator with a smile for the camera's like nothing ever happened, but at the same time no one ever said marriage was easy.

Disney's Replay

Do you ever miss the shows That's So Raven, Kim Possible, Even Steven's, and The Proud Family? Well if you have missed them here's good news, Disney Channel has started their own version on Throwback Thursday playing shows from the last ten years. Disney is getting a lot of good feedback from doing so. "If I live to be 114, I don't think I'll forget the words to the "That's So Raven" theme song. Even after all these years I still catch myself humming it sometimes," commented Justin on the Disney Channel's webpage. In my opinion, I'm excited about Disney's Throwback Thursday, August 13th I stayed up until 3 a.m. watching the first airing of their Replay.

Drake vs. Lil Wayne tour

"The Drake Vs. Lil Wayne tour undoubtedly established a new standard that far exceeded anything hip-hop, or live music in general has seen in a very long time," stated critics. During the battle, there were competitions within the competition, as Drake and Wayne gave their DJs the spotlight in an effort to see who could hype the amphitheater more. Then Drake and Lil Wayne went head-to-head in a battle of hooks that each has worked to make pop culture staples. In my opinion, the tour sounds like it was a don't miss type tour and I missed it. I will definitely be at the next one.

On the Run Tour

Beyonce and Jay Z Carter had a joint tour called On the Run the tour was a success, making over $100 million in the first 19 North American shows alone, as well as attendance topping 850,000. During the tour, there was a rumor about Beyonce and Jay Z divorcing causing a lot of controversy, after many came and made sure they saw the duo together before the divorce, it's funny how the rumor just disappeared. $1 from each ticket sold and a portion of certain VIP ticket proceeds would go to the Shawn Carter Foundation. The foundation helps and support existing students of the foundation that represent diverse backgrounds, and face significant barriers to success such as teen pregnancy, homelessness, poverty, former incarceration, sexual and domestic abuse, and gang membership. In my opinion, Beyonce and Jay Z will forever be the #PowerCouple.

The Mtv Awards

The performance by Beyonce brought tears to everyone's eyes as she dedicated her performance to her daughter, Blu Ivy Carter. At the end of her performance she shut down all rumors about her husband, and their marriage by exchanging a kiss with her husband Jay Z. Arianna Grande and Big Sean reveal to the world about their new relationship status by holding hands backstage of the Mtv Awards. Miley Cyrus brings a homeless guy as her date to the awards in hopes to raise awarness to La Shelter Hopes. In my opinion, I really enjoyed the Mtv Awards and it was a surprise to see a serious side to Miley Cyrus.

The Move

Rock Hill is different a lot different from where Alisa is from she's from Clover which is only thirty minutes away but sometimes she feels as though she stepped onto another planet. She has lived in Rock Hill for almost three years and lived in Clover for five. Clover was pretty much all she knew before she moved, the small town with nothing but three lights the Food Lion and Clover Middle School. Clover didn't have a fancy mall not even a Wal-Mart but what it did have was enough in Alisa's eyes back then. Now, that she's here in Rock Hill she can see the grass is a little bit greener on the other side but she would be lying if she said she didn't miss it.

Alisa and her family moved because her Mom, DeWanda Gardin well now Evans married which was a big change for her adding a stepdad and stepbrother to the picture after years of it being just her Mom, brother, sister and her. Sometimes she does miss the old days definitely the part where she had her own room. Though she has really grown to love her stepdad and stepbrother that's right 'grown' it was a process for her. Just seeing how much her stepdad, Anthony loves her Mom is pretty much all that matters at the end of the day.

Alisa still remembers the day they moved not the date to be exact but she does know it was in March of 2012. She remembers breaking a nail trying to lift the living room couch by herself. She also remembers it taking eternal life to fill up the moving truck with all of their stuff just to have to move everything right back out the same night. It was a very grumpy and aggravating day for her but she got through it. She attended Castle Heights Middle School second semester of her eighth grade year and she's still in Rock Hill in eleventh grade at Northwestern on her way to graduating in 2016. Big dreams, big plans, just wait on it.
